What papers do I require for renting the vehicle?
A valid driver's license (must be valid until at least the day after drop-off day) for all drivers. In addition, a passport is usually required for identification purposes.
Do I need an International Driver's license?
No. However, for translation purposes an International Driver's license will ensure ease of use in Canada and the United States .
Are there kilometer packages available and how much do they cost?
Yes. You can pre purchase kilometer package which is cheaper than paying when you drop the vehicle. Your quote / invoice should tell you how many Km's have been included. Please contact us if you would like to prebook more.
Extra KM's not prebooked are 33c per KM payable locally.
What type of gas mileage can I expect with my rental vehicle?
As numerous conditions affect gas mileage (wind, hills, speed, driving habits, etc.) fuel consumption will vary according to the conditions. As a rough "rule of thumb", you could budget about 25 litres/100 kilometres.
What is the Minimum Rental Age?
You must be at least 21 years old to rent a motorhome and hold a valid driver's licence. This licence must be valid until at least one day after you drop off your vehicle.
Can I travel into the USA with my rental vehicle?
Yes. For Canadream - unless US travel has been included in your rental at no cost, you will be charged C$10.00 for each night you spend in the USA. For Westcoast Campers - its free. Please also note that U.S.
Customs will not allow fresh meat, fruits, vegetables, and other groceries across the border. If you are planning on crossing into the USA we suggest you shop for your groceries once you are in the United States.
Can I Leave my Suitcase at the Rental Station?
Yes with Canadream and Westcoast Campers. As long as you are picking up and dropping off at the same location, you can unpack your suitcase in your motorhome and leave the suitcase in storage at the rental location. There is no charge for this service.
How many people can travel in each motorhome?
This depends on the vehicle type. Canadian Transport regulations state that each person travelling must be wearing a seatbelt. The number of people able to travel in each motorhome is dependent upon the number of seatbelts provided.
Are there radios and CD players in each vehicle?
There is a radio/cd player in every motorhome.
Can you rent child seats?
You can with Canadream. Its recommended you prebook these prior to your arrival or take your own with you. Westcoast Campers only rent baby seats. Owasco/Go West do not rent and child or baby seats.
What does the Preparation Fee include?
This fee includes transfers to and from the airport & airport area hotels, and vehicle preparation. This is usually included in your rental price and should be mentioned on the quote/invoice.
What is a convenience kit?
This includes bedding, linen, cooking wares, dishes and cutlery and is per person. This is usually included in your rental price and should be mentioned on the quote/invoice.
How many drivers are included in the rental?
One driver is included in the rental. Canadream charge $ 5 per night for the entire rental period per additional driver. There is no coverage should an unauthorized driver be involved in an accident. Westcoast Campers include an extra driver at no extra cost but must be added to the rental contract when picking up the vehicle.
When can we pick-up the vehicle?
The pick-up time for Canadream vehicles is between 1PM and 4PM and drop off is betwen 8AM and 10AM from Monday to Saturday. You need to call the station on the morning of your pick-up to schedule your pick-up appointment. For Westcoast Campers the pick up time is between 9AM and 2PM and drop off time is between 10AM and 12PM from Monday to Saturday. You should call the station on the morning of your pick-up or the night before to schedule your pick-up appointment. Sunday pick ups are allowed at an extra cost.
For Owasco/Go West it is between 10AM and 3PM. You need to call the station on the morning of your pick-up to schedule your pick-up appointment. For Moturis you can pick up the vehicle 9AM to 10:30AM - afternoon pick up of 1PM to 3PM only avialable Monday to Friday. The drop off time is also 9AM to 10:30AM. For El monte the pick up time is 1PM to 4PM and the drop off time is 8AM to 11AM.
What is the security deposit at pick-up?
For Canadream a refundable $750 ($1,250 for a driver between 21 to 25 years) security deposit will be processed on a credit card at the time of pick-up. This deposit MUST be made by credit card and will be refunded to the same card at drop off as long as the vehicle is returned in a clean and undamaged condition with all equipment and/or convenience kits returned. In addition, an open credit card imprint is taken with all rentals and it will be destroyed at the time of drop-off. For Westcoast Campers an imprint and verification is taken on a credit card and a $1000 security deposit is taken.
For Owasco/Go West a refundable $1500 is taken from a credit card upon collection of the vehicle with CDW insurance. This can be upgrade at the pick up location to VIP Insurance where a blank credit card imprint is taken upon collection of the vehicle.
For Moturis a refundable US$1000 is taken from a credit card upon collection of the vehicle. For El monte this deposit is US$700.
What Insurance is included?
It is important to be fully covered when hiring a motorhome as any damage can be quite expensive to repair
